Oh WAIT, there is no fleet type Delta hasn't bought except the 787.
This entire airline could be run with 2 fleets/type ratings, a wide body and a narrow body. Right now Airbus is the only company that sells that product with their A319/320/321 for domestic, and the A330/350 for international.
Boeing dropped that ball years ago when they made the 'New' 737-800 cockpit overhead just like the 737-200, instead of making it just like the 757/767.
Right now Delta operates the 747/777/A330/76-4/767-3/757/A320/737/MD88/90/717 and is about to add the C100 and A350. That's 11 fleets to do the job of 2.
Imagine the money we could be making if Ed hadn't got the fuel hedging wrong and if we didn't operate every airplane ever made, except the 787.
I guess that would depend on the price you paid for a two aircraft fleet when the manufacturer has you by the balls. We would also have had to pull out of a lot of markets the last 10 years without 757's and kept a 650 airframe RJ fleet as the A319 would have been way to expensive as a RJ replacement.Originally Posted by Timbo
