Greetings. Going to class next month. How is reserve looking these days in DTW? Are reserves being used everyday? Are any new hire classes still being run with DTW Slots? I understand there are two RAP periods. How long to bid and hold p.m.? Thanks for any and all insight.

New hires can get PM reserve. New hires on the CRJ are getting DTW, MSP, and ORD. You can get PM reserve right away.

How long is it currently to get an FO line in DTW? What is current upgrade time for a prior 121 guy that has the time?

It shouldn't take too long to hold a line as an FO in DTW. There is a lot of movement. Upgrade times for previous 121 pilots is variable. In the spring the junior captain award dropped down to 10 months I believe. He is still the most junior captain system wide. Junior captain shot back up to 20 months on the next bid. Throughout the summer junior captain hovered around 20 months. A couple bids it was down to 18 as well as back up to 2 years. On the latest award it was 1 year 7 months. Next summer we could possibly see DTW CRJ CA go well below a year for previous 121. It takes over a year for a new hire to get 1000 121 time. A lot of ERJ pilots its taking even longer depending on domicile. It's ever changing. Attrition has held firm and with the growth on the ERJ, CRJ CA will be very junior. YMMV. Good news is CAs in Detroit aren't spending much time on reserve at all.

Be careful trying to get to your TT requirement. On the SkyWest info page on here is shows that only the time you fly at Skywest counts once you have been hired to get to 1000-121 and 2500-FW. That’s weird right?

Nah it’s not company specific. Has to be 1000 hours 121 turbine. Not necessarily SkyWest. And 2500TT. We had an upgrade 9 months at the company who came in with prior 121.

After you get hired it’s only company time that counts. Say you own a plane and fly on your days off, they won’t add any other flying you do towards your totals

They will if you put it in the system. Unless you tell them the hours you’re bringing in as a new hire or fill out the form for adding hours from outside flying while you’re here, they have no way to know. Again, outside flying DOES count.
