Announced Oct 18th, delta will switch pilot EFB’s to iPad Pro. Which leaves SkyWest Inc. as THE ONLY company that I’m aware of that use these complete P.O.S. Surface Pro’s. Think we will follow suit?

The tablet releases and opening and closing of a flight are a complete joke. The POS takes half a quick turn to find connection and then other half to open the Jepp app. Meanwhile Chiefs are chasing down CA's who fail to use this awesome software with the magical Microsoft product. I would love to have a release and relevant weather information easily appear.

Meh,
The Microsoft product stinks and changing routine isn’t fun.
But I’m getting used to the new routine and starting to enjoy electronic everything from releases, Can stuff, manuals, and charts. Once the aero data switch gets flipped say goodbye manual manifest when ACARS is inop.
I have no idea why someone thought we should need to close out the EFB.
I’d welcome iPads, but would keep Microsoft over going back to paper.
Did you

Ah!!! You're right!!! Thank You for taking time and logging in to correct me..... Surface 3... I Shall hang my head in shame :-/
Now onto the actual topic... Yeah I had heard that Jeppesen wasn't going to support microsoft so I'm hoping that they don't instead switch to a different map vendor. Word around the camp fire is they got their feelings hurt because Apple wouldn't hook them up with a deal for 4000+ units. I had the president of SkyWest Inc. in my jump seat last year and he asked me my opinion on the Surfaces.. I made it clear that the software was fine but the hardware was a joke and sited many examples of problems that myself and pretty much everyone else was having, if you have one I'm sure I don't need to list any of them. Realize that this stuff occurs below his pay grade, but I got to ask the guy what kind of computer he uses at home? (apple) and so the discussion got onto my opinion as to why we are using these P.O.S.'s and I had heard it was price, not only for the units but the software development as well. Mentioned that pretty much EVERY other airline uses iPad so its not like this is an impossible endeavor. So fingers crossed here
