Well I don’t know who will fly them but that link I posted has the announcement.

Delta has entered into an agreement with Bombardier to purchase 20 CRJ900 aircraft that will replace older regional jet aircraft flown by Delta Connection operators.

The operationally efficient jets are to be delivered beginning in late 2018 with the last delivery to occur in 2020. They will feature Bombardier's new Atmosphère Cabin, including increased carry-on bag capacity, a larger lavatory and improved aesthetic detail throughout the cabin.

These aircraft will be configured with 70 total seats including 12 in First Class, 20 in Delta Comfort+ and 38 in the main cabin. They will fly on small market routes to and from Delta's domestic hubs.

Ya I saw that too, I was just surprised that no operator was identified.

I'm also surprised this carrot wasn't dangled a couple of weeks ago to influence the TA?

Because they’re going to 9E...

We don’t fly OPP... (other people’s planes).

The 900-Lites were an American rumor.
I’m actually kind of curious about this order as why they’d not go ERJ SC instead.
CRJ is great if you’ve never ridden on an ERJ while the traveling public is getting more exposure to the ERJ.
I don’t care much to be cradled by this airplane in the window seat, which is an experience for half the passengers.

9e 175 program sitting on the shelf indeed.

Because they are half the price of a ERJ. Just look at factory numbers and orders. This will help keep the CRJ line going. They are hanging on by a thread...

Agreed. Unless they got them close to free I am not sure why they would buy CRJ over ERJ. Maybe it was a package deal with the CS?

The more interesting question is what planes get retired. DL is scoped out. 20 new means that 20 old will have to go away from somewhere. Maybe GoJet?

Considering they're 70 seats, it's either CR7's or 170's coming off the line.
