Default Flying out of Detroit vs Chicago

I’ve heard from some colleagues that flying out of Detroit involves short flights to small airports ( about an hour flights) where as in Chicago, flights are usually longer and to bigger, busier airports. Can someone tell me Detroit vs Chicago flying wise?

DTW is mostly Delta CRJ-2/7/900 flying. If you're on reserves, you might occasionally get snagged to fly some UA trips in the deuce. Other than that, pretty good flying out of there.
Chicago is mostly United and they tend to stretch out the flying in the 200s. To be honest, I hate flying the United crap.

Any reason why? I’m trying to decide between Chicago and Detroit.

I’d like more insight as well (specially CRJ) as I would probably upgrade into DTW or hold out for ORD. Commuting from the West Coast so ORD would have more daily flights for me.

Are you going to move to one of these places? If you can already drive to ORD or DTW, that's your answer.

With everything being the same.

ORD ERJ then ORD CRJ then DTW.

Flights to DTW are to small airports that are rarely over an hour. IE Lansing, Saginaw, Traverse City, Erie, etc.

ORD is one of the most commuter friendly airports in the country (when weather behaves).

Default Reserve period at ORD

How long does it usually take to hold a line in ORD if you’re ERJ.

Most junior lineholder is a 8/2018 hire.

I think it's a tad skewed because it's winter though. Things will start to pick up in May which should shorten the reserve time.
