When on Short call reserve you'll have to drive halfway there and hang out so you can make your 2 hour call out.
Don't worry about upgrade yet. Your thoughts should not be anywhere near that milestone yet. Instead concentrate on passing new hire training. Learn your job as an FO, learn the lifestyle of a 121 regional pilot, learn about about the various bases.
By the time you have the needed hours to upgrade it will be a completely different airline and domicile list. You will be a completely different person than you are now. You will either be bitter and jaded or happy in your roll as a Senior FO who gets the schedule he bids for. Houston will either be all ERJs, or all CRJs, or half and half, or not even a domicile anymore.

Roger that. Thanks!

Cross that bridge when you get to it. No reason to commute now if you don’t have to. Commuting to get your TPIC so you can get out makes it a little more worth it suddenly.

Might have been covered already but can't find it.
Recruiter says to show up to CTP with 1000TT (R-ATP). Friends that have recently gone through say its 975. Had a great experience with the recruiter but got the feeling they were more HR person than pilot (probably a duh) and wanted to make sure I've got the right time showing up. Currently in a non-flying role so 975 would be more convenient but 1000 is doable.

If you're thinking about coming in with 975 and making the last 25 hours up in sim, you'd better be sure all your hours are absolutely correct. More than a few people have been sent home from training due to a math error with their TT.

Does SkyWest have all three types of reserve: ready reserve, short-call reserve, and long-call reserve?

Thanks!

Enjoy the 8 hour ready reserve. I’m sure they’ll get rid of it after the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Six month deployment for a mil pilot is like 4300 hours of ready. Just say’in!
