Default Skywest or Expressjet

I asked the same on their thread, so I think it's fair to know this side's opinion.

I have a class with SKW, and I'm also considering XJT.

I'll be moving to my assigned base btw. DEN/DFW if skywest and IAH if expressjet.

Risky thread I know

I went through this same decision. I chose SkyWest simply because of captain upgrade time. ExpressJet upgrade time is 5-6 years, recruiters will tell you it’s shrinking and I have no doubts it is,but until it is around 2 years it’s just too long compared to other companies at the moment. But you could get in at ExpressJet and interview with United and go right seat to right seat over to United in 3 years.

I got DFW at SkyWest before I was even out of IOE. When I upgrade (I’m thinking around 18-24 month mark) I’ll be close to holding DFW as a CA.

Honestly I think they’re both great companies, it’s just personal opinion and what you want.

Not risky at all.

Only you know the answer to which regional fits your agenda best.

Define “fairly solid”. How may people this year? How many people in the last 6 months.? All straight seniority from the top?

“Fairly Solid”... is that what recruitment tells you? Do you want to enlighten us on how many people pass the Hogan?

Hogan, then people who don’t pass interview, then people who pass interview and United tells them no when re-evaluated because of no degree, absences, etc. very far from a flow, it’s just a guaranteed interview really.

Yeah I wouldn't choose based on flow/cpp. Too uncertain.

Contract details, earning potential, and base I guess. And skywest obviously wins the base part. I started the thread focusing on contract/$$ comparison.

Problem is most of my friends fly either at Skywest or at Expressjet, so being objective is rather difficult lol. But adding more opinions will help for sure.
