When hiring resumes again, the guys who waited to upgrade and then couldn’t are going to be sitting in the right seat still while the guys who took first available and now have 1000-2000 TPIC will be interviewing.
Then our 5000 hr sic candidate will upgrade, and then get called within a few years after that and will have their opportunity to answer that question.

Anyways, two individuals at my DL interview had zero PIC time, ZERO. You may be correct, as I was only questioned on my own “experiences that have brought you to this table”. But I’d say some smoke is being blown here.
Oh btw one of those zero TPIC time pilots was from SkyWest, zero mil time.

Interesting takes, I took the first available upgrade at CP but I never considered any of that being a factor, I just wanted more pay and responsibility.

It’s my understanding DL LOVES seeing multiple type ratings. Yes, PIC time should give you more of an opportunity at receiving an interview invite. Have both PIC and multiple type’s, even better.
But recently they were picking off individuals left and right who played the right seat regional to right seat ULCC game. I flew with a check airman just prior to COVID who actually made some remarks with how successful those specific individuals were having in training, compared to individuals who had to move back to the right seat from the left.
This is my opinion, but DL will conduct an audit on new hires if they haven’t already, and I can promise they’ll adjust. So don’t assume it’s just going to be all about PIC time as it was in the past.
