Remember as a regional airline you can be replaced.
Comparing OO to OH is apples to oranges, and quite laughable.

Its not. They thought they were untouchable at one time.

I’m a little hazy on my history with ComAir But weren’t they wholly owned by Delta? SkyWest does contract work for 4 different airlines. Is it possible SkyWest could go away? Of course, but it is a more apples and oranges comparison.

I’ve reached out to multiple UA pilots for advice throughout my short career, one is a close family friend. They’ve helped me choose what school to attend (UND) to where to start my career. ALL FIVE recommended SkyWest. I’ve never had anything but great conversations with UA JS’er or a couple I’ve sat next to on a DH.

Idk how you even get yourself into a situation of “being informed by a OO pilot”. It sounds like you sparked up a debate with an OO pilot and they gave you the “**** off” response.

Actually went the other way. He sparkled up the conversation. Asked me what I thought about scope. Told him needed to he tightened. He then went on the rant of how much UA needs SKW for the regional lift. I explained SKW could be replaced and flying brought back to mainline.

My MO on DH’s is earbuds in and listen to a podcast or music.

comair was outsourced labor. As is SkyWest. It’s not laughable. Those who think otherwise will be surprised eventually

Well, if any of that is actually true, you should have slapped him for us. Personally I do believe UA needs UAX to feed the hubs, of course “why not just send a 73?”, of course it would result in only 2 connecting flights per day instead of 5. No big deal right? Yeah it’s a big deal as SWA and other ULLC’s would grab a share of the less competitive market at these airports. Passengers don’t give AF about UA, they care about what flight brings them to point A to point B within a ballpark time and price point.

I’m for tightening scope, but if it destroys the regional flying I’ll be looking at SWA, AS, maybe even frontier as a more enticing career destination. Currently the international flying is dead, and will be for a while, so I couldn’t care less about flying a heavy. Whatever airline job gives me best QOL, great pay, and furlough protection.

It is laughable, and a terrible example to use to make the point that nobody is safe. There isn't a major that is safe either, and anyone that says different needs their head checked.

And what happens to SkyWest if United did such a thing? Does SkyWest go away or die like Comair? Nope.

No they won’t go away but shrink considerably. Plus they own most of their hulls. I highly doubt they could find a home for all the hulls.
