CRJ FO to ERJ CA
I’m very familiar with the concerns some have about ERJ FO to CRJ CA, but I’m curious if there are any common issues with CRJ FO to ERJ CA that are apparent? Have a transition/upgrade coming up and wanted to get a heads up before training. I’m definitely used to being more hands on with the CRJ but open minded about letting the aircraft do its thing while actively monitoring as well.

Thanks. I do like VS mode for passenger comfort versus speed mode (although I'll use turb to moderate this). I'm sure I can get used to it either way. Thanks a lot!

I wouldn’t get too confident. You’re the first generation of the CRJ FO to ERJ transition CA upgrade. You are learning a completely different aircraft AND learning how to act as Captain at the same time. Everything will be different down to the most simple callouts, and aircraft’s tendency’s you could have learned from just a few hundred hours of experience in the right seat, AND more will be expected of you because of the upgrade position.
Simply put, I’d suppose the upgrade on the equipment you’re familiar with would go much smoother, so don’t show up to class thinking it’s going to be an easier upgrade because the 175 is more pilot friendly.

I’m not at “this place” and the “don’t get too confident” is highly recommend attitude for someone upgrading on an entirely different type.

The “don’t get too confident” is just as important for upgrades in the same type.
We’re getting to upgrades comprised of the latest “easy street” generation and it’s showing.
This process is not a ‘gimme’.. the sim guys (and APDs) will eat your lunch if you show up with that attitude.
Just ask the FOs with 4bars on the company picture.
