Don't study anything before you get there. Let them teach you exactly what they want and how they want. I know it's hard to not want to get ahead, I was the same way. Many people showed up in my class with limitations memorized, but you don't even talk about aircraft specific stuff until ground. By the time we were starting ground they had already forgotten half the limitations
Thanks for the info. I guess that makes sense, weird not preparing and going in with a certain level of knowledge before hand.

Is dual-occupancy still a thing, and if so, about how much is it to pay for single-occupancy? I’m assuming that’s a paycheck deduction?

It sounds like Paris is skewing junior for initial. Is that true?

Any new ERJ bases coming online later this year? Thanks!

I chose crj during my interview and ended up switching to erj a couple weeks ago. My class date in 5/24 and my welcome letter states single occupancy and im not required to pay half. Ive heard once the state side locations fill up then they start sending people overseas. Have you been in the their cadet program? Think that is a good way to stay stateside. Ive heard of Atlanta for crj but nothing for erj.

Thanks for the info! I don’t mind the wait time. I’m prior 121 and wouldn’t mind some time in Europe or reasonable training delays. My preference would be equipment and hopefully not toooo long on reserve while commuting.

Avoid CRJ like your life depends on it. The company has ruined that jet with its scheduling. And staffing. They’ve protected the ERJ at the expense of the CRJ.

you go in with most of the knowledge you need. You know how to fly planes, about aerodynamics, about approach plates and how to fly various approaches, about the regs, about weather, about NTSB requirements and turbine systems. All they teach is a new aircraft and how they run their 121 ops. You’re pretty much most of the way there. Still amazes me how many people wash out.

What do you think is the main reason for the washouts? Is it CRM, knowledge based, staying in the game, etc.? I'm sure a multitude of areas but wondering if it's perhaps a deficiency in an area of the syllabus training.

100% on the line/on here to answer this question have passed. So it’s hard to answer. I can say nobody fails for CRM. That’s an acquired skill over time. Intellectual it’s not hard. Mostly memorization. They don’t test for systems anymore. So…
I suppose it’s flying. Not EVERYONE can fly a jet. Staying ahead. Walking and chewing gum. Sometimes it’s instrument proficiency I think. Military calls all that “headwork”.

In MV the cockpit will feel like a hostile environment. And it is. Which is ok.

Sticktoitiveness. All good 121 pilots have it. You’ll also need it during your five month wait for ioe! Lol.

Hey, anyone recently complete training? Im about to start sims and wondering what the wait time to start IOE is looking like. From what ive been told its right around 3-4 weeks. If anyone has questions about Indoc, ground or sim lines im happy to answer.
