Default ATP/CTP, training expectations

Hello all,

Finally got a class date...second one on rehire. I've heard from a few buddies at SkyWest that there have been changes in training in last few years. I'm slated for late August and going to ER175's. Trying to get ahead of the game on study so wondering what the training flow looks like. I'll get Sheppard air about a month out but besides prepping for the ATP exam, what else should one prepare for? Thanks!

Honestly, all you need to do is study up on IFR stuff and be proficient there. Don't need to buy SA as you'll get if for free about 3-4 weeks before CTP. Everything is provided by SkyWest and you just have to trust the process. You could potentially buy the Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual and/or Everything Explained for the professional pilot. Other than that... nothing.

17347 kicked my ass when I started. Study that.. unless you plan on being based in San Diego where you’ll never use it

Ha, right on. yeah took me a bit to break it down but I'm sure I'll use it at some point.

For sure! Flying took a slow turn for me when the plandemic (oops) crushed my flight school and luckily was right when I got hired and hit my R-ATP hours. I rent now when I can and staying in the books take an extra degree of motivation after two years. But got back on the list so gotta get back in the game. Thx!
