The company can reassign another trip onto a displaced pilot as long as it fits within the original footprint of the trip (even 1 minute extra on either side can be rejected). They have until 72 hours prior to the original report time of the trip to assign something different. If they fail to assign anything within that "reassignment window", then you are released from any obligation and paid for the original credit of the trip.

Correct. You’re essentially a reserve, except that if nothing is assigned within 72 hours of your original report time, then you are bought off.

If you’re bought off for OE you are still subject to reassignment? That is garbage, at 9E if you’re bought off for OE you have the choice to be completely off and pay protected or you can choose to do what Skywest does and be put on reserve but it’s 150% pay. If you choose to be off you can double dip and pick up over those days.
