Default Skywest vs Horizon

Good Afternoon, I just took my Discovery Flight and I'm hooked. I know I have a good length of time before I need to make a decision. But I want to do my research and start the thinking process. I live about 45min from SEA. I know both Horizon and Skywest have bases in SEA. However what are the chances of getting SEA as a Domicile right off the bat? Is it something I can choose or a company decision? Would SEA be considered a very commutable base to other domiciles? Any other information I should consider during my research phase? Like Horizon Pilot Pathway vs Skywest Pilot Pathway? Pros and Cons? Thank you so much!

You can get it right off at SkyWest. Horizon you will most likely be in ANC for awhile not flying. QX is not even running NH classes tell Spring. But your a long way off. Things will change 10x by when your ready..

In the 2-4 years it's going to take you to get to an airline, I wouldn't even look on these forums until you're close to 1500 hours lol. So much is going to change in that timeframe. You're going to see some companies fail and some succeed.

Ya for real.. I'd be surprised if QX even exists by then. They'll be absorbed by Alaska and Skywest will probably do their regional stuff on the ERJ.

you won’t need to go to a regional in 4 years, assuming any even exist. You will be able to go direct to JetBlue or spirit or Alaska or even southwest as you build your time to get to a major.

The industry has changed so much in the last 4 years, who knows what it will look like in another 4. I’d get involved in a cadet program and then focus all your energy on getting your time.

Are you really asking about airline bases after the first .5 hrs in your logbook? Facepalm.

Very toppish. Bad times ahead. There is some guy in the major thread asking if he should fly for American or frontier though he has no certs. Everyone is kindly giving advice like he’s babe Ruth calling his shot.
