The payroll issues are most likely not related to a cash issue YET. It is purely a system issue which resulted from 9E not doing their homework and moving over to the new system too fast. They now don't have the personnel to fix all the issues.

If Delta wanted Skywest to have more flying they would have sold XJ to them in the first place. They didn't and from my understanding it was a result of not wanting Skywest to get any bigger. If Skywest shut down Delta would shut down. No idea if they are changing their mind now but I can't imagine any company would be interested in 9E at this point. Maybe we will get some news today at 5:59. Maybe Delta is buying 9E. . .

Quote: Why in the world would Skywest step in and save 9E when this sort of collapse is exactly what helps Skywest reduce the pressure to loose 50 seaters? If Skywest learned anything from the Expressjet merger, it's that it is probably easier to bid on the pieces than incorporate an f'd up pilot group. No offense.
Couldn't agree with this statement more.

My guess, Delta is sorting out a way to not have the 9E 900s go to the desert (or wherever) If that means buying them off of 9E and then leasing/selling them to Skywest (OO?) then that's what they will help do. Delta doesn't want any of the 76 seaters parked for any amount of time. They couldn't care less if 9e shuts down and parks the 50's they can cover for that easily. Delta has already started shifting DC9-50's to ATL to cover the loss of the 900's. (yes the ones that were supposed to be parked but now won't to cover the lost 900's) Delta pilots have already had a memo on this part of the mess.

Heard this from a DL Captain when jumpseating last week. Said the DC9 retirement was being delayed to cover flying by a regional airline. 3 guesses who that airline is.........

That is not true, atleast not for a specific airline. Have searched for such memo...

Quote: Actually it has happened before. It depends on the terms of the sale. If another company purchases the aircraft from Pinnacle then the pilots go with them, no doubt. But if a third party is involved, then it depends on the terms of the sale and how it is structured.
I never said it hasn't happened before. My father was a Braniff pilot who was hiring in 1957. In 1982 Braniff filed BK and sold their South and Central American routes to Eastern who refused to take any BI pilots, eastern didn’t even give the BI pilots Prep Hiring. Yes I know it can happen but it's highly unlikely.
Quote: I hear this argument all the time; you can't just buy the pieces in BK! If it were that easy Mesa would no longer exist as well as several others (US, DAL, UAL, etc.) who filed BK over the last 10 years. No, it's far more complicated.

Sorry I didn't mean to confuse. He said it was for a regional. The speculation that it is PCL is mine.

Because its true if it comes from a mainline captain. If thats the case AA will be going on strike next week. What a weak source...

Where did the ASA 700's that gojet took come from? Don't knOw why they would be covering for planes that are still flying out of ATL. The 700s are no longet flying out of ATL. I see em out of RDU more than anywhere.

Or Delta could cycle the 900s to their wholly owned.
