When the RJs are gone, SkyWest Airlines will still exist and be profitable. That's the only thing in this industry you can count on.

5 years ago? Bought UAL?? If "if" and "buts" were candy and nuts....oh what a Merry Christmas we all would have. $80M??...hahahaha. Today, good ol' UAL is a 37B annual revenue company with 6.7B in the kitty. All those "junior" Skywest Caps that came over here in 2007/2008 and got furloughed can now come back at $110/hr plus a 16% company contribution to their retirement. (if they are not already here).

Also no more Delta 900s since they are going to pinnacle so that only leaves United as the other option and if AA announces larger RJs going elsewhere United will be able to get their way with SKW or there will be no future for SKW likely after the contracts expire. SKW is not immune to the gene. Great company, smart management but they are still subcontractors in a regional whipsaw scheme

I think you're wrong. SkyWest Inc owns the largest fleet of aircraft in the world at 710 aircraft, (UAL is #2 at 708), and almost a billion dollars cash in the bank. SkyWest Inc. will be calling the shots for the foreseeable future.
Hmmm...holding a boatload of aging and unwanted 50 seaters is calling the shots? You're a funny guy Tony. And don't take everything so personally. You get so easily offended and upset the second anybody dares says negative about your precious Skywest. Are you by chance a regional lifer? That would explain a lot.

You never know you might just be a regional lifer yourself no matter how hard you may try to avoid it. If a guy is a regional lifer, who cares. I don`t think any less of those dudes, they usually have families, don`t commute, and can hold basically anything they want when it comes to schedules.

So go to a major and be back on reserve for who knows how long, probably commute, don`t see your family...etc...etc. Oh but you make more money.

Lol. Regionals were never meant to be careers. They were meant to be stepping stones. If you're a lifer you're either un-hireable due to skeletons in your closet, have no degree, are afraid of not passing training or are simply scared.

I have to disagree. The past 12 years have been particularly rough. Some just got trapped. First came 9-11, then flowbacks at certain airlines, then the 65 rule mixed with a downturn in the economy.

People getting hired at the legacies in the next year our two will be captains faster than they did at the regionals.

Your expectation of upgrade speed at the Legacies is way off. Those of us fortunate enough to catch the front of the coning hiring will be First Officers for a long long time at any of the legacies. But it won't matter to me because I'll value the better schedules, income, and retirement contribution. Tiller, you seem to have disdain for folks who choose to remain at regionals. Why is that?
