So if I do the math right, that's 90tfp at year 1 pay and 30tfp at year 2?

No. Rigs paying more on your regular trips will pay first year rates.

Anything you pick up from OT will pay second year rates providing you're at or over your original line value.

For example if a reserve pilot's original line has 90 TFP, but due to rigs and trip credit ends up paying 120, he'll get first year pay for 120 trips. Now, suppose you pick up another reserve block from OT... now anything you fly during that reserve block will pay second year rate. Same if you pick up a trip in OT.

Ah. That makes sense.

Also, trips often end up paying more than scheduled. For example, I had a change during my last trip which resulted in the last two legs paying premium pay.

I'm a BWI FO on reserve. Started the month with some carryover credit so started at 102 TFP for the month. Currently on my 3rd reserve period of the month and am at just over 130 TFP. All I've done is go to work when they tell me, no crazy cancellations or tons of swaps. Just fly my 4 days worth of time and keep getting paid more for it. 130 x $67.(something) = $8710 gross. And I have one more week to go.

I'd bid rsv if it were more flexible with days on/off.

That's crazy. 130tfp bumpy the 3rd block... how does that happen?

Under the new contract, you get premium pay on reserve almost the same as a line holder. Plus you get an extra .5 trips per day over your reserve guarantee anytime your called. I've been assigned every day I've been on reserve, and I often see premium. I always bid 4 day PM blocks as I believe those are the most lucrative.

However, the schedule inflexibility is the real downer on reserve. Like many have said, reserve blocks could be traded in ELITT, I might consider bidding reserve in the future.

What he said.

Allow reserve blocks to be traded in ELITT, and watch reserve go way senior...
