No you go back on call until you've used up your 15hr day. That's right, on reserve you automatically agree to an extension. Except last day then it's 7 hrs from beginning of reserve if you haven't worked. Or 7 hrs after you report if you did. You will always report later if you worked. Hence having to be available lat er if you worked.
Only on call until 8 hours after report time if you flew that day. |

It's simple, if you get the chocolate bar with the golden ticket, show up at the factory for the tour! In other words, if you can get hired at a U.S. major-RUN FOREST RUN! Having any say in your "roster" alone will save you from madness. I think I know where you work and if it's green and where Jackie Chan is from then GET OUT NOW! The Titanic is sinking.
Beat the que, 'cause it's gonna be big. Seriously, prepare and concentrate on the areas you thought you were weak the other times. Have your paperwork AND LOGBOOKS, in really good order. Pay the 400$ to have someone review EVERYTHING with you. Skype someone(s) and do mock interviews. This may sound silly but for the love of god put on a shirt! Really though, MANNY-PEDDY, HAIR CUT, EARS AND NOSE HAIRS CLEARED OUT, EYEBROWS ETC...I See guys with the most haneous grooming habits and it makes me "NUTS"! See I even made a pun. Lastly, table fly scenarios and think like a captain. You know who helps me a lot in my career, crazy I know, but my wife! Talk to her and include her in the process. Best of luck and I'll say a prayer for you. |

One other thing... I don't think LAS and PHX have been that junior lately. Many newhires in BWI and MCO now... but worst case, you'd be able to get back to OAK in your second month most likely.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Is MCO really a junior base now? I figured it would stay senior like ATL for quite awhile. I'm a little less than 2 years from military retirement, and MCO would be the top of my list for new locations. Here's hoping it stays junior. |

It has had some junior vacancies move in recently, but it definitely is not junior overall. Movement there has been at a slug's pace for around a decade and will more than likely continue that way. |

I'm gonna disagree with you guys.
Mco was fairly junior (at the bottom of the FO list) prior to the AirTran deal. The reason for it being so senior with stagnation in recent times was that along with Atlanta, it was an AT domicile and there wasn't enough room for everyone. It took several years for the pig in the snake to work its way through (on the FO side). As long as swa doesn't merge with JetBlue, or dramatically shift flying and shrink the base, there will be a healthy amount of movement there for a new hire today. Mco is in the top 3 or 4 bases for retirement numbers over the next 10 years which is significant because it's also one of the 4 smallest bases. Plenty of guys are leaving the base to upgrade and not all the new hires in Mco will stay which will just make it more junior for the guys that come behind them. Btw I predict that we will see a similar trend in Atlanta over the next 4 years. Once all the AirTran guys get in, followed by a handful of recent hires, I think ATL will go super junior since any new hire that lives in Atlanta would be crazy to pick Swa over Delta. |
Hi. How many work days are junior pilots putting in? Junior as in less than 5 years in property.
I realize reserve is 15 day off....I assume everyone on reserve works 15/16 days a month. (True). I'm about least amount of days worked... I don't care about pay. Thanks! |

I and my buddies who's schedules I follow, have been averaging 2-3 reserve days unused each month. This is over April and May of this year. We will see how the busy summer months go. I'm also guessing this fall will be pretty easy on the reserve guys, as we are hiring like crazy, but losing airframes. I live near my base and often get home before noon on my last day of a reserve trip. Hope this helps. |

This question has such a wide variety of answers due to the working habits of individuals here. For flying your line only, 12-14 days a month. Some are able to give away and drop days and get that number way down. I bid a line this month that worked 11 days. I was able to drop 5 of those days so far. Some guys will work more than 20 days this month of their own accord. That's just SWA. |
