It refers to excess duty periods available in ELITT.
Practically, it means being able to trade down in ELITT. For example, if NetZero is 1, that means you can trade your 4-day down to a 3-day in ELITT.
The way NetZero goes up is when a pilot trades up, say from a 2-day to a 3-day. For example, in MCO, they have some weird stuff in the water there so their NetZero is through the roof even in the summertime...
Whereas, in the other domiciles, at least in the summertime you're lucky to catch it be 1 so you can occasionally dump that 4-day for a 3-day or a 3-day to a 2-day, etc. In the winter time, that NetZero number is a bit looser everywhere in the system allowing a bit more ease to drop trips, except in MCO where it's on crack and ELITT gets cleaned out with guys picking up extra periods driving NetZero really high.

Several reasons.
It's a very senior base these days, which wasn't always the case.
There is very little upward movement on the Capt side, because for every retirement, another pilot bids in pre positioning to retire.
We also have a very large number of early to mid 2000's hires move to MCO as FOs, and get stuck in the right seat for a decade plus. These folks can now hold Capt lines in other bases like HOU.
Naturally, they try to give away as much HOU/BWI etc. flying as possible, and pick up out of MCO, which seriously dilutes the open time system to the point where every month is like February.
Add in the serious over hiring and the silent Max issue, and you end up with net zero of 63 on June 11th.
I swapped a 3 day for reserve last week. The only trip I was assigned was a 2 day, which I immediately put in TTGA, and it was gone in under 5 minutes.
As of right now, there are 10 total trips in MCO Capt ELITT, 3 of which are PM.
I could clear my board with TTGA right now, but can't afford it.

Quick question for those in-the-know.
I applied in this most recent window. My application status in icims states "Received Submission". It does NOT state "closed complete".
I have not heard anything, nor does my pilot credentials application have any new tabs added in.
Just wondering if this is good/bad/neutral?
Any chance there is still hiring from this window?
Thank you.

My icims page still says "under review". I would expect I should be "closed complete."
Sooooo, who knows...

Are new hires going to LAX?
You'll bid for a domicile during training. Domicile bids fall in the last week of each month. The first round of line bidding is 4th - 9th and awards are contractually posted by the 10th at 12pm but you can figure out your award usually a few hours after 12pm on the 9th. Second round of bidding is 17th-19th, for those that were awarded a blank line in the first round.
