Quote: even if they did they wouldnt get any/enough for a decade to make it work. They'd want hundreds and as fast as they can get them. Isnt the first 600 spoken for?
Airbus/Bombardier has seen some cancellations during Covid (Air Canada reduced its total order and several lessors reduced or cancelled their orders). JB has received their first of 70 airframes and Breeze will receive their first of 60 airframes this summer I believe. Air France will get its first of 60 by the end of the year to start replacing A319s. The A220-300 is an ideal replacement airplane for 737-700s and A319s.

With the Mobile, AL completion center up and running, now would be a great time for a big order. Again, considering all of Boeing’s issues, the MAX 7 probably ain’t arriving any time soon...

Who needs a MAX 7 when so many of the regular MAXs are available?

Not a fan of a new type. Been there done that. ALL the good layovers seemed to go to the aircraft I wasn’t on. Never again.

dosen't the plant in mobile only produce 14 a month? They'd have to get through all the orders first then work on SW order. I get there has been canceled orders but I'm not sure the rules on who gets them. Do others get to move up or could another airline take their place in line? I'd imagine if sw wanted to do it they'd order 2-3 hundred and would want them faster than can be delivered.
however, at some point they'll have to go big or go home and that'll be 200 airframes as well. Not sure they'd want to bring two separate airframes on at the same time. There's only so much room to reinvent going to the moon at the GO

Negotiating tactic against Boeing to get a sweeter deal on the max 7. We will never fly a non 737 while Gary is here.

Do I think they would pull the trigger if they were forced to and the terms were right? Sure. But it would have to be an amazing deal.

Not sure what you mean by this, but the MAX 7 is certified (they even used one to flight test the MCAS changes), in production, and there are already a few built for SWA and in storage just waiting for SWA to decide when to take delivery.

There’s a video demo of GK telling a mx recurrent class that we’ll always use the best plane for it’s mission. He said the max8 is the best for it’s mission at SWA but isn’t convinced the max7 is for it’s mission.

It’ll never happen. The Max is on sale and this A220 talk is political posturing for a rock bottom price from Boeing. I’ll gladly admit to being wrong if I am. But I’m not. Feel free to ridicule me in one year if I am.

As soon as they come out with the steam gauge option...

Rumor I heard was that they couldn’t figure out how to disconnect the auto throttles and that’s what killed the A220 deal.
