Yeah, it will go down again, but since LAX opened, DEN has been shrinking with virtually only Lances bidding down to FOs that could hold it. As I said, I've been trying for 3 consecutive bids and now commute from DEN as a 3rd year FO. DEN will eventually grow but nobody knows when. So until then expect a long wait.

New terminal expansion should be finished in a couple years. We asked for all 16 gates. Planning for 300 departures per day in DEN which makes it our biggest station. Forecasting 750 pilots per seat. Sitting at 450 or so FO’s now. I’d guess once LA gets where they want it the vacancies will ramp back up. Anyone’s guess what happens in Aug/Sept. People bidding in for summer/vacation bidding and leave in Fall. Been like that since I got hired.

No, these are not permanent. That's a temporary placement after new hire training ends and their first vacancy bid. They will be out next month (probably OAK). The most junior person was hired in August 2018 and just got awarded DEN for July after being displaced in the spring. The only reason that FO got in is because we have a right of return clause in the contract (basically out of seniority return after displacement if several provisions are met). The reason I know is because I'm trying in vain for months to get DEN (more than 2 years on the property). Check the vacancy awards if you don't believe...

That's a right of return clause. That FO was previously displaced and has a right to return outside of seniority. There are several requirements that have to be met. I can't remember exactly, but I think one of them is the pilot can't change the bid, at least #1 bid has to be continuously the base they wanna return to. There has to be a positive number of vacancies, and only 50% of those can be filled with the ROR clause. You can look it up in the contract.
