It appears some of y'all missed my point.

The point was that the OPTICS ARE BAD and may hurt Southwest's business image a WHOLE LOT MORE than a lack uniformity in the, you know, uniform.

We all understand how the Social Justice Warriors operate. They will see this as a "degradation" of those affected (primarily women) and will call for protests, boycotts, and Facebook campaigns because Southwest's sexist management obviously wants women to DIE of this dreaded disease...

It is just a stupid BUSINESS decision. Don't mess with a socially popular "education and awareness" campaign regardless of how effective it may or may not be.

Those of you calling it a uniform don’t seem to have a problem with the adopt a pilot ties, holiday ties, or flag ties.

I’m fine with this so long as next June, the Southwest twitterverse and Facebook page isn’t covered in rainbows.

I was thinking the same thing

Can't see this one lasting very long:

Concerned about the optics of prohibiting pink flair, uses the word "retarded" in the 21st century.

The people buying the pink tie are not the target, they are trying to get other people to donate. Do charities give 100% of their income away? no, but it is probably more than you and I give.

I'm less likley to donate to a cause everyone else is pimping with pins, ties and all other kind of flashy nonsense.

This nonsense only happens in America because this country is always about "showing off" and being "Special".

Bingo. I repeat....BINGO!

This is sure to draw fire but I just don’t care. Every time I see some lemming with the pink crap I get ****ed. My grandfather died of colon cancer. My dad died of colon cancer. And now I’m losing my sister to brain cancer. What makes breast cancer (which has a comparatively low death rate) so special?

*purely speculative*
maybe because it is traumatic (even when not life threatening) to some women as a loss of their "womanhood" when they get double mastectomies and that 1 out of 8 women get breast cancer at some point.
If you gave me the option of skin cancer with a survivability of 90% and penis cancer with a survivability of 99%.......I think I'd choose the skin cancer and be thrilled that my penis wasn't being removed.

That’s a valid point.
