I knew a guy that drove 4+ hours to BWI from upper NY. He said that it was the same time as if he drove to BUF or ALB, cleared security, got there in time to pre-board, and then the flight to BWI. The advantage was he didn't have to be concerned about being bumped on the way down and going home he didn't have to wait for the flight home. He would do AMs so he would drive down to BWI the afternoon before, get a hotel room and leave his car at the hotel while he did his trip. If my drive had been 4 hours I would have done the same.

But I need to fly 170 TFP a month to afford it all... I can't live on 88 TFP!!!!
You could have bought something as boring as a Cessna 172 at a reasonable price a few years back, today you would have been able to sell it for an eye-watering profit. Same goes with the likes of RV-6/7/8. If you like to tinker, the experimental world is your thing. ... and yes, I can easily afford to live on 85 TFP. ;) |

I do the same from central CO to Denver. Plus United Express is not very reliable in the winter. If we keep the MTJ service next ski season I might change my mind but for now I would rather have my car waiting for me when I finish.
Rumor is MTJ will be year round. |
