I respectfully disagree with your assessment.
I want my pay to be equal to or greater than the pay of the guy across the ramp in the Widget/Globe tailed 737. |

And now with hardly any schedule flexibility, QOL is deteriorating.
The days of ELITT are over until the MAX and supporting schedule come back. Or will it? Flying a month with a member of the ToolBag club? You’re stuck. Hell. Maybe I should have bid a blank line. Theres a 82xxx guy who bid rsv with Sun starts for March in my base...as a FO. Why not upgrade? Boggles my mind. |

You do realize that the data points starting around year 17 are predicated on being a WB CA? Because that’s the possibility at those airlines. It’s not here. Prior to that point is NB CA pay which is apples to apples.

I think we can also all agree, in that spirit, we SWA pilots should be gunning for an industry-leading pensionable B-Fund, industry-leading benefits, industry-leading hotel language, industry-leading "ancillaries", industry-leading work rules, etc. Does anyone disagree? |

That IS mind boggling. Why would he want to “work” on a Sunday? |

I continue to respectfully disagree with your assessment that the bar should be set low from the beginning. The company has to compete for newhires based on career earnings. That is the reality of today’s hiring environment. |

Because he is smart. If you have weekdays only reserve you're more likely to be pulled because there are only 1 or 2 people sitting reserve for a specific block of days. Weekends, including partial weekends, are staffed generously. I personally have the best experience with Thursday -Saturday AMs, but I can see Sunday-Tuesday PMs can be gold mines too. I'm honestly puzzeled reserve is still achievable at relatively low seniority. I've been bidding reserve exclusively since we got really over staffed, and my income and QOL ratio is better than ever.
I usually bid rsv. Couldn’t hold it Jan-Mar. Even bidding it with a Pass pref I get 5-6 days “off”. All the real Sr. FO’s I’ve talked to who are bypassing said they didn’t want to sit rsv or were playing the premium game. Premium is gone so if you’re gonna bid rsv, why not get an extra $85k a year to do it? I’ve been stalking the Open Time awards and these guys are still working since their RCO is high from being the most Sr. They’re trying to give their trips away and calling in sick when they can’t. Lol. To each his own.... |

That is the reality of today’s hiring environment. I’m not saying the bar should be set low. You can go in like DL ALPA and say you want 25% B fund and 30% raises and get laughed at by mgt who then requests mediation. Or you can go in with a realistic proposal which benefits both parties and still leaves wiggle room for negotiation. And UPS just agreed to pay raises for a 2 yr extension so my numbers are already out of date. Lol |
