Internal recs don't count at Southwest, at least not until after the interview. Even after, they're not required. If you interview well, you'll get the job. I had no internal recs and got the job, and I know several others in my shoes. The total time is your problem, in my opinion. Keep flying and once you swing over 5-6k you're gonna get a shot. Who knows, maybe even earlier. They've had a slowdown in interviewing and hiring since the MAX grounding, so they can be more picky. I'm sure they'll lower their requirements once hiring gets back in the regular pace.

Thanks for the input. Will do. It’s the unicorns from around my company who get picked up that blow my mind. I’ve had FOs with no time at all go to a major airline. Couple guys here turned 26 at SWA. So just makes me wonder some days.

Yeah, these are "head scratchers". I don't get that either, but have no insight, so who knows why they are selected ahead of people with experience. I understand your frustration. I'm older myself and was watching 24 year old FOs getting hired left and right while nobody was offering interviews to me. Don't worry, it'll come sooner or later. Good luck!

Hang in there. That always made me wonder too. It took me nearly 10years of applying and 10k hours to finally get a call. I had no blemishes on my record at all. Make sure you use the same email address for pilot credentials that you use for the SWA application (assuming the process is the same).

I lost count of the number but I applied to every window since I met the mins. Took me 8 years and 3 job fairs. I know several who got in on first couple windows. It’s a crapshoot.
Keep updating and applying. They told me I’d been trying awhile in the interview so they can see your history. I told them they sure took their sweet time calling. Lol
