You guys laugh, but I know a Hawaiian captain who had to make a PA because the TP kept disappearing and they were going to run out before they reached the islands. True story.

So is my glass half empty? Sure it is. Because I feel like I've lived through this kind of travel recession before, and those twenty year old memories are still crystal clear. RJ can post all of the Eeyore memes he wants. When all is said and done I think this is going to have been worse than 9/11.

Memo that Delta just sent out to their pilots..

300 airplanes... that's like 4800 pilots. Granted many might be RJs but still.

i read they were going to park the MD-80’s and possibly the 90’s early. That’s 75 or so.

Wide bodies won’t be doing much so there’s 18 777’s, 13 a350’s, 77 767’s, and 47 A330’s.

Assuming none are used for domestic feed that’s 230 planes. So I’d guess there’s RJ’s in there....unless they’re gonna park 717, 737 and 320’s too.

Makes me glad we only have one fleet. That’s a mess....

I get it. Our experiences shape us. I just think you are wrong. I also think that you are a great individual.
I think SWA would furlough if the conditions were dire, but this isn't that situation. We will see how this all shakes out and I may be eating some crow, but I doubt it.
I have told my wife that we are going to be living off min guarantee for a while. That's about a 30 percent pay cut for me. That's just the way it goes.

They say it takes 24 months to actually be worthwhile for a furlough to make sense. I was furloughed in AIRTRAN and when our class got called back our CEO BOB F. was there to explain that it was a mistake due to the fact we weren’t out that long. With that being said the legacy carriers have huge international presence in Asia and Europe! These markets might take a very long time to come back to the levels that sustain them profit wise.
