In the long term, the more that take VSP is better for each individual pilot that stays. ExTO helps the in the short term, but won't improve you seniority since as flying comes back, so will pilots that are above you (depending on where you fall on list). More VSP means more hiring and upgrading.

It wasn’t realistic to think the underwriter would support double-dipping. The choice now is take ExTO (if you can hold it) and get surgeries, etc done at 55tfp while preserving the sick bank or don’t take it and collect LTD. Or you go out on VSP and get your procedure done via insurance and collect 67tfp.

It's kind of fixed, sorta. According to SWA email coverage is back to 95TFP baseline but they didn't mention the premium increase. Compromises... Still, if the LTD premium is your go/no-go decision point for EXTO, then maybe you should just come to work instead.

if that’s your go/no go, then please still take the ExTO. Don’t want to be like my friends at the widget, getting a furlough notice.

i can understand the increased premium. With all that free time, how many are going to take up sky diving, BASE jumping, mushrooms...name your risky activity that a pilot can’t otherwise participate in.

I was thinking more along the lines of copious amounts of cocaine and dating strippers, but I guess to each their own.

On 55 TFP?

You’re dreaming.

But it could make you the king of the trailer park!! That’s almost as good.

The increase in premiums is peanuts. LTD is cheap.
