No concessions!!!!

Hi Zap. I'm a DAL guy. Sorry for posting here, but I saw this post. I was one of the original 2558 furloughees. The VEOP saved me. Before we had the VEOP offered and knew how many were going to take, I enrolled in a truck driving school to get my CDL.
I did the training in August. It was 4 weeks long. I got my Class A CDL. The school was Roadmasters. It was a very good program. The trucks drive, well, like trucks. It was pretty comprehensive, professional and well run. They even helped line up a driving job for me.
I had a start date of 15 Oct, but now, since I was saved by the 1806 magnificent folks that took the VEOP, I'm still employed. So I called to thank the trucking company for the offer and told them I would still be flying airplanes. They were very cool about it and told me outright that if I ever needed to drive, they would be ready to hire me. There is huge demand for drivers right now.
As always, TFWIW, DYDD, etc....

Video of flight attendants union discussing the concessions. Their attorney starts speaking at about the 4 minute mark. He starts discussing how and why Gary Kelly turned down CARES Act loans in terms of asking for us for concessions at the 11:30 mark. Definitely worth checking out: https://vimeo.com/466748088?fbclid=I...50GkXGrIpYWP5Y

Ya, the lawyer's part of the video is something SWAPA should put out. Everything he says in there is spot on.
Key point: not only could Gary Kelly have saved some or all of the $10 BILLION in share repurchases since 2014 for the inevitable downturns in this industry but he refused to take the BILLIONS that were available in government loans through the CARES Act this year because the conditions attached to the loans were "pretty onerous". Why were they onerous? Well, let's have Gary 'splain that:
"The terms of the government loan are pretty onerous ... And I think what's near and dear to shareholders' hearts are restrictions on dividends, which I object to, and share repurchases. I object to that as well. We're not paying dividends and buying back shares now, but obviously we'd like to have that flexibility in the future.
That means not only did Gary Kelly prioritize his investment banker friends and executive bonuses over his "coheart" underling employees in the past while he was dragging our negotiations out for years and failing to deliver on the -800 promise and the ROIC promise but even TODAY, when he had full knowledge of the impact of the covid crisis and the revenue shortfalls caused by it, he STILL PRIORITIZES Wall Street bigwigs and his VP buddy's stock bonuses over the rest of us.
He'd rather take money from his employees than not have the ability to give it to fat cats and inflate VP bonuses at SWA. Think about that.

From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
- TSA PAX count almost at a million
- A rise in cases while the deaths/day is decreasing
- The election over in less than a month
- State restrictions eventually easing
- SWA really wanting to grab market share
- Current expansion into other markets
- Middle seat restriction to be lifted eventually
Who in their right mind does not see this as just a pathetic attempt to reduce labor cost? Even if we do furlough we vote on a 5-10% assessment to take care of our fellow pilots AND MAINTAIN OUR CBA AS STATUS QUO!
Do not give the Kompany an ax to start hacking away at our contract. Especially with the force majeure clause that they’re trying to sneak in there, I wouldn’t vote yes if they were trying to GIVE us a 10% raise. That alone is a potentially huge concession that we wouldn’t be able to claw back.
I seriously hope there’s no one crazy enough to even entertain this if put out for a vote. Say it with me:
THE CONCESSION STAND IS CLOSED!!!
