JS on untied last week and they said they are bringing everyone back from their ExTO program and hiring 1000 this yr!
I asked if their training dept can handle that and they just shrugged.
delta is hiring also as well as some ULCCs. Basically most will hire this year except maybe American. So I'm pretty sure we'll see some growth soon.
soon. I'll bet a beer we have an upgrade and new hire class by yrs end.

So I (again guessing) foresee a scramble to the left seat and a bypass list that shrinks considerably.

Which is fine of course, were it not for the anemic rate of retirements over the next 5 years or so.

If there truly is expansion coming out of the back side of this thing, great. But I think even pre-Covid as we pushed past 10,000 pilots a lot of pilots were thinking, "I wonder how many pilots they ultimately want to have on property when the music stops?"

Let’s all hope for the best! But plan for the worst! That way we will not be disappointed.

Is the 4/1 recall bid close the same date that the supposed furloughs were going to be on the street?

My current position is spot #3 on my vacancy bid. I have 2 CA spots above where I am now. I’m not commuting to CA for 6 mos.

I’d wager most everyone east of MDW/DAL/HOU won’t either. Just like I won’t go to BWI or ATL.

Is sitting rsv for months at a base over a 4 hr commute away worth a 40% pay raise? To some, sure. To me that’s a big, f*#! that.

I think you are also leaving out the overdue market correction. Remember, THIS contraction was due to COVID. We are still well overdue for a market correction. This is what caused furloghs in the past. We are about to be double whammied. You have just seen the first half!

I sure was. That downturn was the panic caused by a pandemic. It had nothing to do with the normal economic cycle. Interest rates have turned. Housing starts are down. Biden and the dems are about to push through major tax increases on individuals and raise the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%. There is a big correction coming. Thirty plus years in this industry along with a masters in Accounting but yeah I guess I am clueless...
