New hires, are usually on weekend reserve which often gets used. HOWever, if its a 4 day block, I see lots of guy not getting used day 1, then getting assigned day 2. So you would burn 2 hotel nights sometimes, or get a pad. Luckily it looks like its only a few (3-4) months on reserve then you should be into blanks if hiring continues.

Appreciate the info. Any place online to check out the scheduling system or any place to try and learn it before I get there? Haven’t found any groups or FB groups yet with info.

OAK is ol’ reliable when it comes to new hires. Sometimes other bases have massive spikes in new hire numbers, but OAK keeps plodding along adding a few at a time. When other bases aren’t spiking then seems like that’s when OAK does. I moved from BWI to OAK and gained about 10% base seniority with good progression.
