Damn that thing is beautiful. I haven't flown a Mooney since college. (School had M20Js for commercial training)

Both DEN and MDW are good bases to commute from MCI. MDW has a better hotel/crashpad situation than DEN IMHO. MDW you can walk to a crashpad in the same time it takes you in DEN just to get from the gate to the airport train station. Neither base is particularly senior, with some new hires getting MDW on their first bid.

ORD to MDW is either a $45-50 Uber ride or 1:40 on the train with a change in downtown. Southwest has decent service on that route so I doubt you'd need to get up to ORD much.

Still trying to learn about all this after the last 16 years flying in the military. Thanks for any advice.

pretty legit rumors going around that we will be opening an MCI base by the end of the year. These rumors have a lot more insider informants than times in the past. I think it’s very likely.

1% chance.

MCI over STL? Doubtful

I personally haven’t heard anything lately about a MCI base opening. But I have heard that rumor regularly in the approximately 20 years I’ve been here. Same with BNA. Same with an Alaska merger. And same with us buying Hawaiian.

I heard from a sup STL was dropped as a base consideration because of social issues over the last couple years. The KC newspaper said SWA committed to making MCI a hub as part of its financial contribution, but no mention of a base.

There are a lot of “hubs” that would seem to make sense as bases imo, even if they’re virtual bases.

That may be a good way to attract more new hires in the future.

Did these "insiders" also see Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night? I heard it's pretty serious.

It was a sure thing that BNA was going to be announced as a base at the rally, look how that panned out. I guess the real question is: does the new MCI terminal have crew lounges?...

Crockrocket95 03-10-2023 03:28 PM

Anyone who flies into BNA, STL or MCI knows MCI is the smallest of those 3. Why BNA isn't a crew base... I have no clue.

Well, BNA has been the unicorn base for lots of airlines. If we open a domicile there, you can bet it will be the most senior base instantly.
