We both busted up laughing and agreed this was gonna be a great trip, and it definitely was.
no sensitivity on my part, at least not intended. The whole stereotype game we play here is funny and lazy. AF dudes are mostly cool to fly with. AT dudes are mostly cool to fly with. SWAPA pilots, chief pilots are all mostly great to fly with.

Zap tends to be an Eeyore, but he doesn’t usually buy into the stereotype stuff all that much. Maybe he had a bad trip or something. It’s all good.

I actually was recently surprised by a former AF captain. He was a woke type super leftie. Was a Zoomie that flew fighters for his commitment and got out. It confused me, but whatever. We kept the politics out and stuck with general aviation and I was able to survive. Definitely not the norm here in the Lukewaffe Squadron.

Theres a few of us lefties (I like to think I’m center left). We hide in the shadows so that our tires don’t get slashed. We are easy enough to get along with. We’re still all pilots after all. We can talk about airplanes and cars and vacations, our hobbies, favorite BBQ, our kids and our spouses. We can whine about the contract and the company and the bad choices that led us to where we are in life. We don’t have to be enemies just because we vote differently every few years and I still like vacationing at Disney. 🙂

Zap were you an F-teener? That’s what caught me off guard. Those guys at SWA are typically on the more conservative side. Agree with the rest.

No. I'm all civilian. Sorry to add to the confusion.

I am former mil. I think it is borderline hilarious that Zap made a jab at guys from "the zoo" and immediately provoked a reaction from one.

I tend to stay away from commenting on here. And I don’t care if people have different opinions, but it just seemed like a new level for him. It’s the same thing as other pilots commenting on politics, and getting a reaction from you or Zap on FB or the Forum. I don’t care that you vote left, or where you went to school, or what you did before SWA. It’s all good. Let’s have a good trip, let’s treat people with respect, and not cause any unnecessary drama. Zap usually follows that line of thinking, and so I just found it surprising he went there with a specific stereotype. He was just joking, but that’s what every pilot says when he goes off on a tangent on the forum.
