One minor clarification that bit me in the ass when I was a newhire……if you aren’t married so you list a travel partner in their stead, they don’t get travel bennies for 30
days from your date of employment. Learned that one the hard way and cost me $500 for a last minute ticket. Oddly enough I was able to make a non-rev reservation in their name despite their not be eligible yet. Go figure.

Is the family travel the equivalent of listening stand by? What’s the best way to positive space?

Two ways...

First, the obvious... whip out your credit card and pay. You may be able to score some 20% discount codes from your fellow pilots who don't use them, but so far, we've generally gotten two every year around Christmas.

Second, Rapid Rewards points... you get them here from time to time and if you don't use them, they can amount to a pretty decent amount you can then use for positive space travel as we don't have blackout dates.

Does SW treat a domestic partner the same as a spouse in terms of health insurance and travel benefits?

Yes. Again, for reasons unknown. Who comes up with these rules? Apparently you can only get the good benefits with a marriage license. Truly bizarre.
