Quote: You should probably also preface that you haven't hit the line yet. I don't deny we get treated marginally better than regionals (disregarding pay), but how you're treated as normal line swine and how you're treated in the school house are two completely different worlds.
I interviewed long before 7/30 bud, I just didn’t post in real time. I don’t doubt there are things that need improvement at WN. However, most of us that came from regionals have no intention on staying there. In addition, my comment was specially directed to a current regional pilot asking a question on a thread that I started. Your perspective is your perspective and mine is mine.
Take care.

You’re still at a regional bud. You need to accept that and make your peace with it or move on. I’d move on if I were younger.

Not here to argue route structure, aircraft type, and what not. But let’s be real, when we say regional, we mean a contract airline that doesn’t sell its own tickets….a regional. 🤓

So have you hit the line here "bud"?

If so, no offense, I would caution people to take your opinion of being thoroughly impressed with how southwest treats us with an even greater grain of salt, considering that 4-5 short weeks ago you didn't know what our per diem rates were, or whether we were in contract negotiations.

I'm really not trying to be a jerk, and I apologize that I'm likely coming across as one, but let's face it, people asking questions here are trying to make, quite literally, 10 figure decisions that will have decades of repercussions, positive and negative, for their families, children, and even their children's children. That's not hyperbole. That's fact. This stuff matters, deeply. My opinion stems from almost a decade here, which is far less than many, but I'm honest and open about that, and when people read my opinions, they can take my experience (or lack thereof) into context.

Your opinion is not invalid, and in fact is quite relevant insofar that how one is treated in the first few months here is important. Perhaps the fact that the negative factors aren't readily apparent in the first few months is a positive, and perhaps I've just forgotten how bad it can be at the regionals (I haven't forgotten any of my 5 regionals). But the first few months doesn't dictate an entire decades long career, and I'm just trying to put some perspective on your broad statement of how we're treated, in that the year in year out abuse, operational fatigue, disregard, contempt, and outright theft that you'll eventually see is indeed a sharp negative. I can't compare to the others in the big 4 (/cargo/ulcc, though I have many friends at both), because I haven't been there. I can only relay the information, culture, and treatment I've experienced.

Feel free to take my opinions with a grain of salt, I'm just one person, despite the objective and actual facts I've relayed.

Hopefully Phoenix.

Quote: I think malicious intent from scheduling is a huge accusation. If that’s true then it should be investigated by SWAPA. Have you reached out to your rep yet?
Malicious intent comes in multiple forms. Do I think there's some payroll overlord out there saying "steal from the pilots"? Probably, and I certainly hope, not. But why then is it so blatantly slanted towards the company? Have you ever had an audit completed incorrectly in your favor? I personally find around $10k of theft per year. I use the term theft quite deliberately. Intentional neglect or apathy can still involve malice, and whether or not the payroll managers are saying "steal from the pilots" or are simply intentionally not saying "this problem needs to stop NOW" is indeed a malicious choice.

And yes, SWAPA knows, hence the multiple grievances out, multiple contract 2020 proposals, and the running RP ticker of, most recently, $9,470,150.78 of recovery since 2015, and $2,941,283.68 of recovery in the last 12 months. As you can see, the yearly rate of theft is actually accelerating.

Lol, I said 10 figure decision. I meant $10m, so 8 figure decision. If a mod wants to change it to 8 figure, that would be great.

That's only what SWAPA knows about. Many have recovered there own theft and many haven’t caught it.

It's 10 if you count the $ .00
