My whole career, my family’s financial safety and well being can come to a complete halt with one bad decision, bad medical, a mistake, or bad days during check ride time.

Name me another profession that is as unforgiving as ours? Even anesthesiologists don’t get the scrutiny that we get. Furthermore, I have to live with my profession even on my days off. I can’t just get a DUI, get into a bar fight, and it’d be ok! These mistakes can be unforgiving, not only for your company, but the FEDs as well.

One of the reasons airline management has gotten away with subpar pay and the flying public doesn’t appear to care as much, is that we make it look easy. Yes, day in and day out we make decisions that some folks would crumble under, all while making it look “EASY.” And some of us don’t help our cause. I’ve heard the, “beats working for a living, I can’t believe they pay me to do this, I can’t believe they pay me so much,” naive statements. That is, until you find yourself in that no BS Cat II-III approach, wet-short runway landing, or the “real” emergency where a decision has to be made. Oh! and then you may have to explain yourself to top it off, despite making correct decisions!

There’s never been a better time in my career time to get a well deserved, excellent contract. I think our Union knows this. I’m willing to wait or do whatever our union asks of me in order to achieve this goal.

Have y'all been reading on the delta forum? Seems like they are perfectly happy with the sub par rates, NEC well below their ask( +1% DOS & at 18% in three yrs), paybanding that helps the company ( listen to SWAPA number podcast for that explanation) and some QOL gains.
I cant believe after all the touting of a once in a generation contract they will settle for a standard okayish contract.
Their reasoning is UA and AA will help get their pay rates up.
Boy will they be shocked when that doesnt happen and if their language isnt great the conpanybwill walk all over them.
I'm worried no one will stand up for the contract they deserve and hope some other airline does.
We cant wait for others to do the work for us.
I have a standing NO vote in.

Well, SWAPA BOD just authorized the call for a SAV if negotiations don’t improve. Check your emails.

We better beat them in every aspect of pay, disability, retirement, etc if not let’s shut this place down for a couple of weeks and see how they like it.

Lol. That's good.

But my line in the sand is actually even higher. Significantly higher. You hear that "Teamroper"? Er, I mean Mr. FordHarrison?

33 posts all on WN pilots needed to take a pay cut. Now you threaten more furlough notices. Not a good way to try and get pilots to come work at SWA. You are talking more furloughs while SWA management admits it was a mistake. If I was Southwest I would take legal action against you.

Good luck ,you may need it in your near future.

Wouldn’t it be funny if his IP address was at HQ?

What is left out of the "rate" equation is there are a lot of soft time pay improvements from training pay, vacation, sick leave, dc payments, lower health premiums, holiday pay, etc that will make for a higher W2 but don't show up in the "rates" discussion.

I agre. I’m a much higher than DAL rates. Their 737 rates with the AIP are embarrassing!!
