this no wifi is getting to be a safety issue.
Was coming into DEN the other night. Massive storms and reroutes and new arrivals constantly. We couldn't get the big picture of what arrival etc would work better because no wifi. So we were at the mercy of DEN center and radar.
in a fuel situation and the indecision of center etc we had bo idea if their plan would work and thusly couldn't be confident in our diversion plan.
it was getting to the point of just diverting so we knew we could make it to the alternate before we had no options.
With wifi satellite radar we would have had a way better idea of what's going on.

Honestly, you’re just embarrassing yourself. I’m not sure why you continue to spend your time on an AIRLINE PILOT forum when you’re not actually an airline pilot (and a majorly anti-union one at that).

That’s why I contact dispatch and tell them the way we want to go. If I’m Johnny on the spot . I look at the release on the inbound leg and send an ACARS where we want to go.

If you were a real airline pilot, you'd know that. Go away and stop embarrassing yourself with all of your inane "news" stories and commentary about things you don't understand here.

The non smartass answer is that you can't being your own equipment into a 121 cockpit. Everything in the jet has to be FAA approved in the ops specs and company manuals. (And before you reply, don't even tell me about headsets and show more ignorance. You know what I mean.)

Post #16 says it all, it's a safety issue not having it sometimes:
