I will take a delay and move weights around to have a jumpseater on my plane, but it would be hard to explain why I let someone on despite that he is not on the list of approved carriers.
Various random cats and dogs seem to think that CASS is a free pass, without any actual agreements or FOM authorization.

I admit that in the past I've allowed a couple in the cabin, after the gate gave them a JS card, but even that may not be a good idea. So yeah I've done it, but I can't swear I'm totally comfortable with it. It's probably a good enough defense that the gate gave them a pass, at that point it's not cockpit security but rather cabin nonrev policy.

I've also had 135 (fractional?) people show up with CASS but no reciprocal and tell me that their company wants them to JS to get into position... those I denied. Not going out on a limb to help someone help their company to better compete with my company.

JSing to get into position (to save their company $ by not having to buy them a ticket) is and always has been a BIG no no!

If they don't give him a boarding pass and they need me to decide, and/or the jumpseater has to occupy a seat in the flight deck, that's when I may not. Can you imagine if an incident happens with a jumpseater, like trying to shut down engines on us, if they find out that he didn't work for one of the approved carriers?

Kalitta is on our list, so that's an easy one.
Do you have the list memorized? Do you know every carrier on it? Do you check it prior to letting someone sit up front?
I don't.

I don't have it memorized, but I do have it bookmarked.

I've used it a couple of times to verify someone.

I know where the list is, and check it if I've never heard of the company or am unsure about recip status. CYA.

You do have to be on the reciprocating agreement list. Back in the day SWA allowed non reciprocating part 135/121 jumpseaters but that was long before CASS.
