Yes, all growth atm. 35 deliveries this year (525 "ish" pilots), 55 deliveries next year (825 pilots), and 60 deliveries in 2026 (900 pilots). Plus 800-1000 retirements per year through the end of 2026. So that comes out to roughly 5250 new pilots in the next 3 years! This is all based on no age 67 change and/or no economical or industry crisis. Crazy times.

At your age it’s a very easy decision. SWA will continue to shrink for years. Not to mention over 35 years of flying a POS 73? Do you like torturing yourself in your free time?
Hey at least you can brag to everyone you’re the highest paid 73 pilots in the industry. All the widebody pilots making significantly more money at the big 3 with less years on property and more days off are laughing hysterically.
SWA is a walking L atm. These are the same pilots who gloat about the days the big 3 were furloughing while SWA was hiring, so don’t feel bad for them. Don’t walk, RUN.

Do what is right for you and your family. AA is going to have amazing opportunities in the future as long as everything goes like I think it will, but SWA will continue to chug along as well. They hired a couple thousand pilots over the last two years and even though it is paused right now, that will continue. They offer a lot in the way of $/unit of effort and $/day, but there is simply no way they will match any seniority growth at AA.
Also, I am not so sure that AA is going to be around forever in PHX. That base is definitely languishing for them. I have taken a lot of AA commuters from PHX to LAX, which to me seems like a hell of a way to waste a lot of time and money.

Don't listen to anything this clown says.

I really like SWA, would be a big decision to go elsewhere especially since the legacies have already hired so many pilots.

I am not a "my shop is better than your shop" guy and I know what I would do in the OPs shoes, but let's all be candid and honest here about the situation. If you want to live in a base and still commute, I think you are insane, but that is your perogative. PHX was a merger base that has not grown like the rest of the airline. SWA probably doesn't have much growing to do there either, but they have a big pilot base that is going to be there for the near and distant future.
