DL looking ahead on how to make money without having to actually pay their pilots…joint ventures, regional jets, etc. Fewest WB of the big 3, brought the RJ whipsaw to the industry….not exactly who I want this airline to be like.

Well when you don’t have to pay the regional affiliates PS, nor pay your JV partners PS….you have more $ with fewer mouths to feed.

If their PS is so high, they they screwed the pooch and failed to negotiate the contract they deserved. I’d much rather have more $ every month than gamble on a once a year payday. I’d also rather have our scope than their scope that you can drive a truck through.

Delta mgmt would love to do as you suggest and trade profit sharing for pay rates. That transaction would last one negotiating cycle, and evaporate. Anyway, Ualpa and apa must have thought it was ok, since they matched the dalpa formula.

We’ll see if you’re still singing the same tune when Delta acquires Southwest for pennies on the dollar after they go bust like Blockbuster and you get stapled to the bottom of our seniority list. I bet you’ll be drinking that Delta Red Kool-Aid within a few weeks like a good boy!

Southwest will be blockbuster if we don’t change. It’s only a matter of time. We have all this money on deck, but don’t do anything with it. Other than hand out ridiculous bonuses to C-suite who don’t deserve 10% of it. Fear of taking calculated risks will work against us.

UAL and AA were forced to match DL rates and didn’t really exceed them. AA matched and UAL barely beat them triggering the me-too. If DL had agreed to 10-15% more, that’s what it would be at the other 2. They settled for less in the best negotiating environment we’ll likely ever see.

it’s a fact that RJ’s and JV’s generate revenue that isn’t shared with those employees. AA’s PS was lower in part because they are forced to share with their WO regionals, while DL doesn’t.

We likely could’ve had higher rates instead of being forced to negotiate off of previously agreed to 737 rates. I know we have the best scope in the industry and will never budge on it. DL does not….WB rates don’t do you much good when you’re not flying the planes. Only thing in the DL contract I wish we had was green slips…other than that, I don’t really care.
