Not directed at you per se

I think the company should honor those as quickly as possible too and that is a good example: 50/50 D225 and existing CJOs that were already given out.

I agree. I wonder why they are not?

there are a lot of pigeons working on the 225 program. It does not fit their best interest to stay at home and get paid.

Not to derail the thread, but asking for a friend who’s trying to apply to D225, how long is it currently taking pilots to upgrade in each base? Especially West coast bases. Projections for the previous couple years of new hires?

A minimum of 7 years right now. Headed towards 8.

Den is over 10 and with all the displacements it'll probably go to 12.

But…..But…..it’s CP at the helm! He told me we should fly the 800 for the same rates, Gary has our backs, and , my favorite, “that ship has sailed” over and over. I’m sure he has the best interest of SWAPA pilots at heart…even though he works for the company now. This program is not necessary any longer. It’s a pay to play scheme and also an attempt to dilute the resolve of the group with a “just glad to be here mentality.” I have nothing against the individuals in the pipeline.

There’s about 1300 pre Covid hires who can’t hold the left seat yet and 869 FO’s who could hold upgrade but haven’t yet. Once that pig gets through the snake, upgrade will drop by 2 years. After that it will creep back up as the 3100+ post covid hires work their way to the left seat.

All that said 7-10 years is pretty reasonable for the foreseeable future.

Seems like the 800 bypassing will always be there.

You are spot-on. Bothers the heck out of me too.

Exactly this. So many people talk about having to wait until everyone that’s bypassing upgrades but that’s simply not the case.

Typically 60% system seniority will be enough to upgrade. There will always be a bunch of FOs bypassing and the better our contract is the more of them will bypass.

Getting another fleet type will exaggerate this even further. Just look at the Legacies as an example. If we got a smaller airplane there’s a good chance that it would go more junior (especially if the trips sucked) and you might see it take only 70% system seniority to upgrade on that.

A good example of this would be JBA when they still had the E-190. Smaller airplane with crappier trips and lower pay rate.
