Default Chair of the Scheduling Committee

Is it true SWAPA has a lead member of a committee, I think it is scheduling, that applied for a company VP position? I am positive that if a chief pilot ran for SWAPA VP, WN would kick them to the curb.

I hope this rumor is false.

I mean, if true, they are simply one more in a long line of people using labor leadership roles to get to the real money, the corporate gig.

There is a detailed discussion on this in the swapa forum. You will get a lot more context and actual names of the players involved there.

I was looking for a simple this is a false rumor.

As Cyio said. The union seems to be a steeping stone for some. I have just never heard of anyone taking the leap while still having a SWAPA position and keeping that position afterwards

Thanks. I believe I got my answer.

It’s smoke and mirrors. Someone asked the question and its politician level responses. No solid answer in either direction, even though it’s a binary answer.

Exactly my point. Our union won't say anything one way or the other unless you are on with a rep, over the phone, with an anti-spoof app running. They act like they are dealing with national secrets or something. It's a total waste of time to be on that forum unless you like hearing the same five people banter back and forth.

If true it is COMPLETELY unacceptable for a SWAPA committee chair to hold a SWA VP position. I mean are you Fing kidding me?

In what universe would anyone consider this ok?!

Anytime anyone says call your rep about a rumor, it's generally because they can't type out what needs to be said. So....call your rep. They are willing to say a lot more over the phone than they can in a public forum.

I don't get the frustration. SWAPA committee members have been jumping to the company management team since this company had 3 airplanes. You think that's ever going to stop? The tools that people have proposed to try and prevent it are worthless and people are going to do whatever is in their own self interest.

No rules were broken. Constitution and bylaws don't forbid it. It doesn't look good to the puritans but then again nothing does to them. I won't defend it but IF their were bylaws in place, this wouldn't have happened(if true). I can see the company wanting him or interviewing him. He's a sharp guy. Call it poaching so to speak. I do believe is one of the few committee members you want around but now he's been tainted. So the BOD may have to make some choices. Nothing in the bylaws that say's he HAS to stay as a committee member. They can easily remove him.
