Seniority rules and is a bigger factor.
If you understand legalities.you have a good shot a getting the same results. I've tested my skills over the years and gotten similar results.
But then again, most don't know how to put together a STC.
planning still doesn't have to honor the rules for STC.
I bid monthly overlap for max pull and they split a trip up and didn't honor the split points etc. When I called they said they don't have to go by them they can always opt to pay me for the longer DH.

split points have never been used for overlap pulls. They are for partial trip sick pulls where you want to rejoin the trip on a subsequent day.

I've never been allowed to do a partial trip sick pull besides calling in sick while out on a trip already.

interesting. I always thought that is what they base the decision on wrt pulling the whole trip or putting in a DH.

you have to make it clear at the time of the sick call you only are calling out sick for part of the trip, and your trip has to pass through one of the 1.6 tto split points to rejoin. You can’t just rejoin anywhere you want.

Now on a fatigue call before the trip starts (FTS) they are required to catch you up with your trip regardless of where it goes…foot stomp

Their is no contract rule that says a STCs has to be honoured only via OT and not Extra Fly, but that's how it works. It's not planning that puts the STC together when the split them between bases.

I'm not sure what you mean by split points. They calculate the cheapest option to pay. If it means you fly with a non paid dh, that's how they split. If they have to pay the DH you get the trip pulled in it's entirety, generally speaking. Other factors such as trip length and 5 day max flying apply. Fit that in the realm of legalities and you have a winner. It's easier if you're not based in the middle of the country and you have some seniority.

it's not surprising most pilots F it up.

But hey, geopolitics, religion and how to run the company. We got that!
