Default Destination 225

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if Destination 225 was worth it? I'm between that and Delta Propel program. Does anyone have any experiences with either?

Where you wanna end up until you’re 65? If you’re going the airline training program route, I’d go with the program ran by the airline you want to work for.

It is successful and the company has been honoring its commitments to the 225 candidates. If you want to work for Southwest I would say its good, however if another airline is on your radar then you might want to go the route they like.

I’ll never really recommend flow or cadet programs, but it is great to see we are honoring ours and we weren’t telling people to just shove it when we paused hiring. For a while there it was just 225 people getting added to our seniority list. Was under a UA flow program at da regionals and they’d change requirements retroactively and deny people with clean records just to keep them flying RJs. We don’t have that program.

Thankfully, there are no requirements in our 225 program that you MUST flow to Southwest. It is essentially a guided path to the 121 world with greater access to Southwest.

Not sure if I’d spend the $ for 225 if I wanted to go to UAL. It’ll get you the ratings, but Delta isn’t bringing you on with min hours like we do once you hit the target. Supposed you could always flow over and hang out here until you get the interview thee but seems like a lot of work when you can just do their program and eliminate the middleman. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The airline training programs are expensive (much more so than DIY at a part 61 school). But they’re structured to get you done and out the door to that airline ASAP.

I haven’t flown with a 225 pilot yet (or any 121 pilot mill person) but would be a good way to kill cruise time talking about the pros and cons, etc. I’d guess most wanted to come here from the jump.

yeah SW just told the guys who had CJOs that they were no longer competitive yet kept the 225 peeps and hired others.

Keep in mind that all of the 'ab-initio' programs are subject to what is happening at the step between the ratings and the major.

Our 225 folks have been stuck in limbo for a while because the aviation partners were stagnant and they had no seats to offer the 225 students.

Oh I’ll never not say that’s total BS, I was ****ed when they did that - but also they should be honoring those 225 promises like they’ve been doing.
