The UA thing is typical Scott Kirby. He relies on grandiose visions, bluster, and wild prognostications as part of his leadership style. He inherited a company that Oscar Muñoz completely turned around, and their trajectory seems to be headed exactly where he wants it to go. Eventually reality will catch up with them. In the meantime, it's going to be a hell if a ride.
They have gambled big on a sustained explosion in air travel. Any little hiccup in the global economy is going to be quite humbling for them. For now, though, it seems to be working out. Building up when everyone else was pulling back during Covid was perhaps the single biggest gamble that any modern airline CEO has made. It worked out...this time.

Lol. That's a prediction that Kirby could get behind!
In all seriousness, though, barring yet another economic meltdown/war/housing crisis, I fully expect to see United surpass Delta as the industry leader. Delta is a better run company, but United has taken a huge risk and has momentum fully on its side. Time will tell.

I remember, during the government epidemic, we were steadily flying empty routes all over the place. SWA planes were flying EVERYWHERE! Many CPTs spoke of their confidence in the company “we’re keeping the rpm steady because once the insanity lets up, we’re gonna stomp on the gas and be positioned to blow everyone away. It’s what SWA does.” It’s funny now but also not funny at all. I didn’t know this “car” that we were in was a Miata. Ugh

You're coming off as someone who sets everything to 0 between legs and talks a little tooooo much about trains. 🤷
Rehearsal season 2 is fantastic though. Only bit of TV I've ever seen that only airline pilots can really relate to lol
