Several of the folks in my class drank like it was the end of the world every night. But if you aren't a big drinker, or you are concerned that it could impact your study, you don't have to feel obligated to do the same. I am an extremely light drinker. I would occasionally have a beer with dinner, but I didn't do the shots of wild turkey the night before class or anything like that. I would be social when it was obviously expected to be social, but there wasn't any real peer pressure. This was my 11th 121 initial in 18 years so I was pretty clear on what I needed to do to get through.

FWIW, the last guy I flew with just went through recurrent and said the Director of Training told the class that they recently revised the 2016 hiring number to "800 plus".

The last number I read was 616, so if true that's great news.

Seems we've had one at FedEx in every new hire class too. Slow upgrades change the math a bit...

Does anyone have numbers on the retirements at SWA? The DAL, AAL and UAL pages in APC show the retirements for those carriers but I haven't seen anything for SWA....

Ahhhh, yeah... I got my training stuff today via email link. I don't see much drinking in my immediate future.

That would be great news if true. Now does anyone know if decision boards are done for the year?

Retirements are roughly 150 annually for the next several years (10).
