Default Losing Shamu!?!?

Southwest, SeaWorld end partnership a year after 'Blackfish' backlash - LA Times

To be painted over. Sad.

Default Losing Shamu!?!?

Sad because you like the paint job, or sad that cross promotion partner treats marine mammals poorly?

PR damage control at its best!

Treating marine mammals poorly like airline management treats their employees?

Sad but true documentary. How safety and common sense go by the wayside for the almighty buck.

What's the problem? Paint some other orca's picture on the airplane! It's not like SeaWorld has an exclusive contract with the whole species.

Covert it to a penguin exhibit! Sea world stays as a sponsor problem solved. People love them penguins. What is not to like about penguins?!!!

The paint job really. I think that whale on the side did tons to get kids and infrequent flyers excited about their flight, the airline, and aviation in general. People who would normally have no love for flying identify with that sort of fun and whimsy.

For the record, while there may be some inaccuracies or bias to the film, I think it's core message is sound. We see in those whales something that reminds us of ourselves. Highly intelligent and social with very developed family groups. Why is our response to keep them contained instead of wild?

Maybe Southwest should paint pictures of crew members on their jets since Shamu is swimming into the whirlpool of life.
