SWA Crew Base In STL
Based on this story, and the fact that SWA is one of the only airlines expanding in St. Louis, I'm curious what the folks in the know have heard about the possibility of St. Louis becoming an actual crew base. Is it likely in the (near) future, or just a pipe dream for me? What are the rumors?

They got the extra gates and flights at STL to relieve the pressure on midway during peak ops when it is at or above capacity.
You are going to see lots of flights that have through passengers and connectors going through there. Some airlines call it hub and spoke but we don't do that here so we will call it something else.
STL is easy in easy out, centrally located, and has a ton of gates and ramp space for cheap. It makes perfect sense.
What doesn't make sense is a crew base. Lots of other stations have large numbers of overnighting aircraft and maintenance (MCI, SMF, FLL, MKE) but aren't crew bases.
