I got the email at 3:03 am yesterday morning. I too spent yesterday and today refreshing my screen every minute. Yesterday I walked away for five minutes and it was closed. Today I refreshed every minute until noon PST as it said it would have it open in the morning and at precisely 12:00PM PST, the job fair link was there, clicked on it, selected the day, said it had 45 spots I believe. I filled in my email and name and got an instant reply to my inbox. I was able to select the link in there and I was confirmed. I had paid extra special attention at 10:00am PST as that would be end of the morning for Central Time. When it was not open by then, I paid extra special attention at 11:00AM PST then extra special attention at 12:00PM PST as that would be the end of the morning for all the time zones. For the next couple of rounds, I suggest refresh your screen all morning, maybe pay close attention to 12:00PM Central Time and 12:00PM PST. Congrats to those that got slots and good luck to those who are still trying.

TheFly 08-25-2016 04:34 PM

Me think you're "extra special".

I don't think there are going to be any more rounds. From my source I was told they already filled all 300 slots.

pilot100 08-25-2016 05:11 PM

why would they say spread over the next 4 days, if they weren't going to

Amen. Exactly how I feel.

this was a total joke.......

I think this was a total slap in the face to those that wanted to make swa home.

There was no passcode to sign up. So I don't know what you're complaining about.

Ugh. I have to agree. If it was contract posturing, then that's disappointing. If it was just that poorly planned, then maybe that's even more disappointing. I still luv SWA, but c'mon man.

KMac6063 08-26-2016 02:34 PM

Anyone know what exactly will be happening at the recruitment event?

Totally agree... I hate the feeling that I've been (intentionally?) deceived by an advertised four-day registration that closed after 2 days.

Jay Noel Dagget 08-26-2016 07:53 PM

My guess is that SWA doesnt care too much whether we feel deceived or misled, or that some ill feelings were born of all this. I think they dont care because they know if they were to schedule another screen/job fair/pony ride, many hopefuls would do the very same thing again....That should tell much about this company and how it has changed since the great Herb passed on. Howser out.

Albief15 08-26-2016 11:34 PM

That event wasn't for wannabes. It was meant as signal to those with signs in DAL around their necks. The message was "you are replaceable".

The problem is the message also said "...this company is not the same company that hired you..." Long after the new deal is inked, and it will be at some point, the message that will linger will be the latter one.

One thing you learn in this industry is that regardless of what management says, your real allies are your coworkers, not management. It seems like SWA pilots for years thought they were "different" than the rest of the industry. The fact APA and ALPA pilots were picketing alongside SWAPA pilots should show that we are all pretty much in the same business now.

LOL!

I gotta laugh: I applied to SWA last December and got a TBNT's letter. So on the 24th I get the (now) infamous invite in September! TBNT's but come along to our recruiting event anyway! Whatttt everrrr!

Oh, and the web booking page was already shut down by the time I checked my email.

Freaking well said! This was nothing but a negotiation tactic and nothing else.

I didn't say anything about a passcode. Once I went to the PC website, the link to reserve a spot for the event was there, then it disappeared.

Unless you just meant that he no longer runs the company... Herb is still alive.

Recruitment Event

Herb needs to walk into his former beloved DAL headquarters, and have an "Operation Scared Straight" moment with the current management and get in their faces and remind them what the proper way is to make their employees happy.

I know you didn't say anything about passcodes. I did, because you said people who didn't get an email were allow to attend.

Anyone who knew about the event could sign up. Hell if my dog had an email, she could have tried to get a slot. There were not requirements at all. Just a name and email.

Go back one page. And read my post #173. You're saying what I've been saying all along. If guys who got an email are complaining that non email people are getting slots. Then swa should have had a passcode on all emails. So that non emails people couldn't sign up.

I am not complaining about non email pilots getting a shot. I am saying to go to the Job Fair you should atleast meet the mins and have an app on file.

The reports of Herb's passing have been greatly exaggerated...

jstyle13 08-30-2016 12:26 PM

Anyone else get another job fair email today? Second one I've gotten, and of course it's already past registration anyways.

That's the software company that builds the site. Probably an html error based on the site crashing.

cole 08-31-2016 08:43 AM

Does anyone know if the slot for the event would be transferrable if the person can not make it?

Aurora8 08-31-2016 03:07 PM

I got the email again as well, but can't read all of it (the edges are 'cut off' in the image) - can anyone tell me what it says about cancellations and September?

WhistleBlwr 09-01-2016 08:42 PM

So what does this mean?? Discuss.

What's there to discuss?
It means there is a job fair.
If you're not going to a job fair, you can apply online at swa.com to apply for a job.

Wow. This is getting really confusing...Accepting applications for those whom were unable to secure a time slot? Did the ones who did get selected get an application?

WhistleBlwr 09-02-2016 05:47 AM

"We will be accepting applications soon"
So are current applications null and void? No more interviews until.....?
Are they looking at job fair attendees before considering others?
Why only a 2 day application window?

pilot100 09-02-2016 05:59 AM

and there were no requirements for the job fair? this is all so weird
