Whack = keyboard warrior with a major chip on his shoulder.

Here and on every social media platform I see him on, he acts like a petulant child who didn't get his way. Me. Me. Me.

Life isn't fair - for anyone. But apparently he feels he's the only one who's ever been "wronged".

Been in the airline industry for 30+ years and Whack thinks he's the only person to be affected by mergers, BKs, acquisitions, etc. He clearly is one naive, disgruntled pilot. Can I have my 25+ years of seniority at SWA from my previous carriers? NO!
Bingo.

Ok, back on topic. I just looked at the new hire class that started today. According to the numbers posted in the quote above 78 new hires for October would have to be 3 classes of 26 each. The October 10 Class had 24 (now 23) and the current class that started today only had 18 actually show up to class. That's 41 between 2 of the 3 classes scheduled this month. So, unless the class that starts on Halloween has 37 in it (unlikely), we are on track to run well less than the 78 new hires projected which makes me even more suspicious of the company's highly optimistic hiring numbers posted above. SWA, you have a problem....a hiring problem.

I wonder what it could be?

For a Aug 2016 new hire to achieve 60% seniority (approx junior CA award systemwide):

0% growth: 2029-11-24 (13 years 3 months)
1% growth: 2028-06-24 (11 years 10 months)
2% growth: 2026-12-24 (10 years 4 months)

so they run another class in nov or dec....I know plenty of guys who'd love to work here and haven't had any luck with getting a invite. Wonder what the pass rate is on interviewees lately?

Other than the stretch RJ at AA and the -88 at DL, upgrades are running 8-10+ yrs at the legacies. Sure it'll come down with retirements. I didn't come here for a quick upgrade. I came here for QOL reasons. If people are bailing here for a quicker upgrade either they didn't do their homework before showing up or the PD needs to do a better job screening people.

Good for you!

Although your post above points out you owe yourself a look at the latest system vacancies at the OALs though or at the very least not to post erroneous info that may lead others astray.

SWA certainly is a career destination. Some folks may have different goals than yours though.

I don't care what the vacancies are elsewhere. The only other legacy where I live is UAL and it's their most Sr. base....way more Sr. than SWA.

Who cares that DL has a 4 month upgrade when you'd never bid it? I'm not going to commute so I'm not even going to waste time applying to someplace I've no intention of ever going to.

If your life goals are to fly int'l or a bigger plane than a 737...don't even bother applying because you'll be disappointed and just waste your time. If you live local to a base or have a easy commute then SWA is great.

Which begs the question. Will the new TA change anyone's mind with regard to SW as a potential employer? If you are considering the airline will it affect your decision? Why or why not?

Flyguy,
I don't think caveman was trying to get you to quit/leave.... just explain why others might. If your content then so be it and enjoy!

Sorry if it came off wrong....just tired of people asking me when I'm quitting to go to DL, etc.

For a good many people SWA isn't a stepping stone, it's a little aggravating when you walk into the lounge and people see your employee number and ask why you haven't quit yet.
