We're y'all a IS-BAO operator? We are and I am the safety and standards officer and give standards rides but did not check the box in the application because I figured they were talking about 121 ops. Should I be checking that box then? I don't want to be checking a box and somehow get an interview and they think I am not being truthful.

Last few have been around the 20-23rd of the month. So look around those dates in May...

Quote: I checked the box as a Part 91 Line Check Airman. I was asked a few questions about it at the interview, then verified with the follow up phone call to my former Chief Pilot. Hired. Good luck.
Thanks, man. Figure I'll leave it checked unless I hear otherwise from Southwest. They can read. And if I get the call, so be it, and I'll take it from there.

Ok, disregard. Just got a PM from someone who definitively addressed this. IOE does not = Check Airman. So I've (sigh) unchecked that box.

And to whoever it was who pm'd me--thanks. I tried to respond to you but I think I somehow messed up and killed the thread.

I honestly don't know how important that box is to check anymore anyway. As has been mentioned many times in previous threads, mathematically, just how many check airman do the airlines really think there are out there? It's a very small percentage. And the 800 people or so per year that the airlines are hiring I know for a fact that most of them weren't check airman or have had other leadership roles. Heck. A lot have had no PIC time either. Just my opinion. Out of the 45 or so that have left my company over the last two years to go to the majors (or LCC's)....most didn't have much more to check than education...which leads to another point...it seems that's the biggest point producer over experience. Which is stupid...

At the fair Rocky mentioned they hire for: Flight Experience(not time), leadership, and education

I should've qualified that I was referring more to the other airlines hiring practices. I concur with what Rocky said....Thanks.

Yeah I just posted that to agree with you,the fact that they mentioned education as one of their top 3, leads me to agree that it is a big factor in their hiring algorithms. It is also pushing me to sign up for a masters program, it's gonna be a painful few years.

Yes, we were IS-BAO.

I applied over a year ago, so there's a chance the application questions have changed?

"No thank you" email
So I got the "not selected" e-mail from SWA. Two days after the app window closed. More flight time isn't going to change anything. Should I bother reapplying, or are they likely to stay uninterested?

I should add. Interviewed in 07, they got as far as calling my references, which was a good sign back then, and then they sent the "no thanks" letter. I'm thinking that reapplying won't change anything.
